There is Music at the Bottom of the Tunnel, an initiative that emerged with the purpose of alerting the population to the importance of taking care of themselves and promoting their well-being and Mental Health is returning in 2023.
It is already in the last week of this month of October (the month that marks World Mental Health Day) that it will celebrate its 3rd edition. Thus, from the 23rd to the 27th of October, several stations on the Porto and Lisbon Metro Network and a concert hall in the capital will be the stage for dozens of artists.
It is in the context of the spaces of the Porto and Lisbon Metro Network – which represent the pulse of large cities – that the National Coordination of Mental Health Policies invites people to stop their routine for a while, taking some time to enjoy music at the alive. These are projects by new national talents who, through the “Há Música ao Fundo do Túnel” initiative, gain the opportunity to present their music to new audiences. This was the context chosen to raise people’s awareness of the promotion of physical, psychological and social well-being in order to prevent Mental Health.
The programming of this edition “Há Música ao Fundo do Túnel” includes a new feature that takes the initiative from small stages on the Porto and Lisbon Metro Network to the Villaret Theatre, in Lisbon. On October 25th, Wednesday, a Solidarity Gala will take place with concerts by Mafalda Veiga, Lena D’Água and David Fonseca. Tickets cost 15 euros and will be on sale at the usual places from October 12th. It is possible to contribute to this event, even if you are not present, through the “Solidarity Ticket” with a symbolic value of 5 euros. The amount raised at this Solidarity Gala will be donated to an institution nominated by the National Coordination of Mental Health Policies.
This is an initiative of the National Coordination of Mental Health Policies, which works to promote Well-being and Mental Health and which, this year, once again counts on institutional support from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Culture. An original idea by Filrouge, with implementation and project management by FoundAction relies on the cultural and artistic production of Produtores Associados.
The initiative also has the support of Médis, a health brand from the Ageas Portugal Group, which in 2023 has focused on offering to improve the Mental Health of the Portuguese, with new dedicated coverage available. For the entity, Médis and the Há Música ao Fundo do Túnel project embrace the same type of commitment and vision.
El Corte Inglés and Le Billet are sponsors. As production partners, Metros do Porto and Lisbon and Cision, as mobility partners, MINI and as media partner, Renascença.
