Halley Batista and Carina Duarte this Sunday guaranteed victory at the Allianz Sintra Pro, the fourth and penultimate stage of the MEO Surf 2021 League, the main surfing competition in Portugal and the one that defines the titles of national champions.
On the third and last day of action at Praia Grande, emotions were at full speed, with Vasco Ribeiro securing the men’s title even before the final. In the final Vasco ended up missing the third consecutive victory in stages, seeing Halley debut to win in MEO Surf League, while Carina Duarte stamped her return to triumphs in the League six years after the last one.
After being the highlight of the action on Saturday, Halley Batista returned to flying high in the man-on-man phase. With all attention focused on the title fight, Halley was advancing round after round with the best scores. It all started with a triumph against Miguel Blanco in the quarter-finals, followed by a victory over Afonso Antunes in the semi-finals, which ended up deciding the national title in favor of Vasco Ribeiro.
