Composed during the band’s South By Southwest festival participation, “Austin” is Hause Plants’ first release of the year and features the Canadian band Ducks Ltd.

The relationship between Hause Plants and Ducks Ltd. began in 2022, when the Rio de Janeiro natives attended a show by the Toronto band at Baby’s All Right, one of Brooklyn’s most renowned venues. After long hours chatting at the merchandise stand, the musicians stayed in touch and in September of the same year played together for the first time on a tour that included Portugal and Spain, where they sold out the Galeria Zé dos Bois in Lisbon and the Ferro Bar in Porto. Two years later, in 2024, they reunited on the lineup of the New Colossus Festival in New York, and in May of that year, they played together again in Portugal, this time at Musicbox Lisboa.
With a long-standing mutual admiration, a collaboration between both projects became the natural next step in this friendship, and it is in “Austin” that we see Hause Plants and Ducks Ltd. working together for the first time.
Composed during the Lisbon band’s participation in the South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, this song shares the same name as the city where it was born. During their days off and periods of rest, Guilherme Machado Correia, Hugo Luzio, João Simões, and Dani Oliveira gathered around a guitar at the door of the motel where they stayed for over a week, and composed the skeleton that would give shape to this new single from the band. It is this same motel that is depicted in the cover photo, taken by João Simões during one of these moments of rest. Months later, Tom McGreevy and Evan Lewis, the Canadian duo behind Ducks Ltd., took the tracks recorded between Austin and Lisbon and added new vocals and guitar arrangements that would completely transform the music.
“Austin” is now available on all platforms and will be the last release before the band enters a new phase in 2026, the year they will release their first full-length album.
