Heavy Lungs live in Vigo, Porto, and Lisbon
The band Danny Nedelko brings their raw and hard post-punk to Portugal and Vigo.
The band from Bristol is part of the new wave of punk that has thrived in that coastal city of the UK, bringing us bands like Ditz or IDLES.
Heavy Lungs have a fairly close relationship with the latter, having toured together several times and dedicating mutual songs, such as “Blood Brother” by Heavy Lungs written with and dedicated to IDLES, or the famous song by IDLES “Danny Nedelko,” which bears the name of the vocalist of Heavy Lungs and pays tribute to migrants and Danny himself, who has Ukrainian origins.
The harsher face of British post-punk
Founded in 2017, Heavy Lungs have been building their path through memorable live performances, complemented by 3 EPs that solidified their cult following and garnered critical attention – “Abstract Thoughts” in 2018, “Straight to CD” in 2019, and “Measure” also in 2019.
After an intense life on the road, mostly supporting IDLES, they finally released their debut album in 2023 – “All Gas No Brakes” – which meets expectations, having been well received by critics and fans. A raw sound marked by sharp riffs and is lyrically consistent and introspective.
After changing labels, Heavy Lungs is ready to resume its path and is preparing to release its second album in the first half of 2025. Last week, they gave fans a taste of what this album might be by releasing the new single “Get Out,” a raw and edgy track that shows Heavy Lungs will not slow down.
On October 31 in Vigo, November 1 in Porto, and November 2 in Lisbon, Heavy Lungs will bring their famous incendiary and memorable performances to our stages, where it is expected they might lift the curtain a bit more on their new album.
In Porto, the opening act will be Ekecetera, a band from Invicta City that has been emerging in the underground scene with its powerful noisy rock sound.
At Musicbox, the night will open with Bad Tomato, a newly formed band from Lisbon that will bring us punk rock with fierce guitars, 4 by 4, and a lot of attitude.
