After several years as a composer and bassist in projects such as Balter Youth, Silentide and Vitoria Vermelho, Henrique Tomé — also known in the independent music scene as a producer and cultural agent from Porto — performs solo with “Rope”, his debut single.
The song anticipates the album Thin Ice, scheduled for release in late 2025 by Biruta Records. Already available on all digital platforms, “Rope” marks a new creative stage in the musician’s career, now also as a vocalist and lyricist.
“Rope” is an energetic and emotional song that marks the beginning of the second act of the album, symbolising a reunion with hope. “It’s a story about meeting someone who lights the end of the tunnel for you, the rope that makes you climb higher”, shares the artist. “It portrays friendship, the love you want without weapons, giving yourself to another person and breaking down the wall that isolates you.”
Henrique Tomé is responsible for the lyrics, composition, lead vocals, bass and synthesisers. He is joined by João Freitas (guitars, piano, vocals and backing vocals), Inês Pinto da Costa (backing vocals, backing vocals), Gabriel Valente (drums) and Maria Inês Gouveia (transverse flute). The recording and production took place at Estúdio Cedofeita, with mixing by Gabriel Valente and mastering by João Guimarães.
Thin Ice will be an album divided into two acts — the first of conflict, the second of resolution — with a narrative structure inspired by classical drama. Between dense soundscapes and moments of lyrical purification, the album proposes an emotional and symbolic journey through the fragility of existence, anxiety and the possibility of overcoming.
The album will be released by Biruta Records — a record label, agency and music promoter based in Porto, restless and independent since 2014 — which has artists such as zé menos, Riça, MONA LINDA, redoma and Vitoria Vermelho in its catalogue.
