A unique tribute to Cape Verde’s greatest voice – Cesária Évora in the heart of Lisbon

One stage, several generations, one soul. On October 19, the Coliseu dos Recreios will host one of the most authentic tributes to the Barefoot Diva, where emotion, memory and excellent music are the watchwords.

Orchestra Cesária Évora, more than a concert, is a celebration of Cape Verde’s musical heritage, highlighting the mythical figure of Cesária Évora, who, since her passing on December 17, 2011, has remained a symbol of authenticity, cultural resistance and emotional universality.

Her voice, sung in Creole but felt in any language, united audiences from all over the world, and it is this spirit that Orchestra Cesária Évora, formed by the musicians who accompanied her for decades, continues to perpetuate.

Artists who grow in Cesária’s legacy will take to the stage, reinventing it without distorting it. Voices that represent the present and future of Cape Verdean music, such as Elida Almeida, Lucibela, Lura, Nancy Vieira and Teófilo Chantre.
