On November 23rd, the Hotel Estrela de Fátima will host a solidarity lunch dedicated to Cape Verdean cuisine. The proceeds will go to a charity in Cape Verde.
The initiative is the result of a partnership between the Cape Verde Hotel and Tourism School and the Fátima Hotel School, in the context of receiving Cape Verdean interns at the hotel. Interns will choose the charity to which the lunch proceeds will go.
The buffet lunch, which costs 25 euros per person, will feature a wide selection of typical Cape Verdean dishes. There are several options to discover, such as Tuna steak with onions in the style of São Vicente, Cachupa Rica, Fish broth in the style of the island of Sal and Baked goat with yam in the style of São Nicolau.
Side dishes such as stewed Feijoca and baked sweet potato with yam and cassava are also a guarantee of the traditional Cape Verdean flavour. To close the meal, the menu has a selection of desserts including Mango Mousse, Coconut Pudding, and Creole Queijadinhas, among other options. Lunch includes water and house wine.
“We are privileged to welcome excellent Cape Verdean interns to our hotel, who bring Cape Verde’s warm and special hospitality to our operation. This initiative is a way of promoting the country’s gastronomic heritage, at the same time that we recognize the good work that our interns have done and make our modest contribution to such a noble cause”, says Pedro Marto Pereira, General Director of Hotel Estrela of Fatima.
