Huawei presents HarmonyOS next week

Named Hongmeng, in Chinese, HarmonyOS was already released for other types of devices, such as tablet computers, in August 2019.

The company expects more than 300 million devices to operate on HarmonyOS by the end of this year, of which about a third are devices from other companies that would incorporate it as an operating system, the official Xinhua news agency reported.

Sales of Huawei mobile phones were affected after the inclusion in the United States’ ‘black list’, which accused the group of having links to Chinese secret services, a decision that limited the Chinese group’s access to American technology, such as the operating system. Android, owned by Google.

This year, Huawei decided not to disclose data from mobile phones sold throughout 2020, although consultant Canalys pointed out that in the fourth quarter it fell for the first time in six years from the ‘top 5’ of global suppliers, in part because it sold the brand Honor, to prevent it from being hit by US sanctions as well.
