“A Grande Fantochada” is an unprecedented format, created by one of our most original comedians, who recreates the History of Portugal (and other stories) in a live show through puppets – manipulated by Van der Ding himself and Vítor D’Andrade – to the sound of the music of pianist Joana Gama.
“I’m not a puppet in your hands.” Thus ended another love relationship for Hugo van der Ding. Inspired by this idea, he took eight puppets and, accompanied by the piano, went on stage to do his favourite thing. Smoking crack? Play Skool Daze on ZX Spectrum simulators? Invent recipes from traditional Portuguese cuisine but with gum? Of course. Tell stories! From Portugal, from Europe, from the World. Big, small, important or just curiosities. This is how A Grande Fantochada was born. It is a show for adults and children, especially those indoors.
After the success of “Vamos Todos Morrer”, – where the author transferred his passion for History to a podcast, which gave rise to a book and later a show – Hugo van der Ding once again gives free rein to his incomparable talent for (re)telling the story with the irreverence, sharp sense of humour and creative flair that characterize him so well.
