Hyundai wins two Future Mobility of the Year 2020 awards

The FMOTY awards distinguished the HDC-6 NEPTUNE hydrogen heavy duty truck in the ‘Public & Commercial’ category and the foldable e-scooter in the ‘Personal’ category.

Sixteen jurors, including leading automotive journalists from 11 countries, selected Hyundai Motor’s applications from a total of 71 concepts presented in international salons for consideration in three categories: Private, Public & Commercial and Personal. The judges praised Hyundai Motor concepts for introducing innovative mobility technologies and services for future mobility.

The HDC-6 NEPTUNE, presented at the North American Commercial Vehicle Show in November, was inspired by New York’s iconic railways in the 1930s.

The concept incorporates the brand’s vision for a zero-emissions future while driving the paradigm transition for environmentally-friendly commercial vehicles. As demand for zero-emission and environmentally friendly commercial vehicles is expected to gradually increase, the FMOTY judges supported the first commercial vehicle concept to incorporate Fuel Cell technology.

The foldable e-scooter, presented as a prototype at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in 2017, is currently being considered as an option for future vehicles.

As the name suggests, the electric scooter will be integrated into the vehicles, charging while the car is in operation to provide mobility to the last kilometer – equipment much appreciated by the judges, in addition to its excellent build quality.
