IBERANIME moves to Santarém in 2025
to provide a better experience for visitors
- The event moves from FIL, in Lisbon, to CNEMA and gains another 10,000 m2 of space for new activities and thematic areas;
- The new site allows to offer a more immersive experience to visitors;
- The organization is already preparing a robust transport plan.
IBERANIME, the largest Japanese popular culture event in Portugal, will have a new “home” in the next edition, in 2025. IBERANIME will move from FIL, in Lisbon, to Santarém, more precisely to CNEMA.
This change reflects the organization’s commitment to providing a greater and better experience for visitors. CNEMA allows the event to grow by more than 10,000 m2, with infrastructure and outdoor space that allow it to include new thematic areas and activities, in addition to also offering greater comfort for visitors. The Iberanime at CNEMA has 3 pavilions, a cloistered room, two auditoriums, a workshop room, outdoor space and free parking.
In order to minimize possible constraints to visitors of the next edition, the organization is already working on a robust transport plan that will facilitate the movement of participants from Lisbon, and within Santarém, at more affordable prices.
More immersive experience and many new features
The event of 2025 will be reinforced in terms of size and content, with the aim that the experience is more immersive and multisensory.
The new features are several and include:
- A new area of traditional culture, with the presence of the Embassy of Japan, Language Craft (language school dedicated to the teaching of the Japanese language and calligraphies), areas of Reiki, Bonsais, Origamis and the cultural stage, with speakers dedicated to topics related to Japanese culture;
- Japan Arcade Zone is immersive, with the recreation of a retro Japanese arcade;
- Space dedicated to drawing, supported by a Portuguese manga illustrator;
- Individual cosplay competition, which responds to a public request;
- Gaming tournaments so that visitors can compete with each other;
- Practical workshops in Japanese gastronomy, Cosplay props, manga drawing, floral arrangements (Ikebana), folding, and origami, among others;
- CNEMA Auditorium will be transformed into a thematic cinema for the event.
From a more social perspective, another novelty for the next IBERANIME should be highlighted. The organization wants to address mental health and well-being, and with this in mind are planned discussions and private sessions with experts on bullying, gender identity, and self-confidence, among others.
In addition to the news, participants will continue to enjoy the areas of karaoke, board and card games, dance, choreography, manga, anime series and movies, and fair brands and artists from the Japanese universe and pop culture.
Ticket prices are unchanged for the 2024 edition: 18 euros in the 1st phase; 20 euros in the 2nd phase; and 25 euros in the 3rd phase and at the entrance to the convention (daily ticket and adult ticket values).
