Identity, wines, gastronomy and a restful sleep to celebrate the Southwest of Portugal

ID week from March 26th to April 1st

The arrival of Spring is celebrated in the Southwest of Portugal with the 3rd edition of ID Week, an initiative of Associação Rota Vicentina whose objective is to affirm and disseminate the identity of the Alentejo and Vicentina Coast in its various dimensions. This year the program has 75 proposals for activities to “think, visit and discover the Southwest”.

Identity is savored at the table on Rota Vicentina with more than a dozen gastronomic and wine moments throughout ID Week.

From “pedaling to the vineyard and a restful night”, in Brejão, in a partnership between Casa da Seiceira and Vicentino Wines for white and red tastings, to dinner at Lamelas Restaurant in Porto Covo, where the tradition of Alentejo cuisine reinvents itself by the hands of Chef Ana Moura, there is no shortage of opportunities to taste the delicacies of the Southwest.

A lunch made with local products after a morning with your hands in the clay is the proposal of Oficina da Escola, in Vila Nova de Milfontes. Further south, in Aljezur, the sweet potato pie with almonds and honeydew, accompanied by the sunset, say goodbye to another day at the Vicentina Hotel.

Also at lunch, people play the “Value Game” in São Luís, a challenge by Regenerativa Cooperativa Integral to discuss the value of things at the table and taste the importance of local products. A boat trip on the Mira River, observing the fauna and flora that populate its banks and walking through fields full of Spring to Troviscais, where upon arrival awaits a lunch prepared by the cooks of Associação Recreativa, is what results from the partnership between the guide local, Larissa from Hike in Alentejo and José from MilEmotions.

At “Manhã Bio” in Rogil, the invitation is to get your hands on the ground and participate in fieldwork. The reward will be a lunch prepared with freshly harvested products and wines from the producer, all organic. At Casa do Lado, Mariana prepares the Alentejo dinner and picnic, of course, which they accompany with a SurfMilfontes class or a guided walk through the Malhão area.

There are several accommodations that join the ID Week program with proposals for gastronomic and wine activities, such as Herdade do Touril in Zambujeira or Costa do Vizir in Porto Covo. And it is in this planted seaside village that almost at the end of ID Week, the Lamelas restaurant opens its doors for a wine dinner. The view over the bay of Porto Covo competes with chef Ana Moura’s menu: chorizo migas with spare ribs or hake migas with clams in green sauce are served with hand-picked wines from the region.

Some of the activities require registration. Consult the complete program in the Rota Vicentina Agenda.

Always confirm with the concert hall or promoter the conditions of access, confirmation of the date or time, tickets place of sale, price, and availability.
