The Professional Course in the Performing Arts of the Institute for Social Development (IDS) opens with an adaptation of the play “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, by William Shakespeare, at Teatroesfera, in Queluz
The IDS – Institute for Social Development, in partnership with Teatroesfera, premiered William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, staged by Paula Sousa.
This was an end-of-course project by class 09 of the Professional Course in the Performing Arts which, in this troubled time of confinement, awakened in everyone the desire for pleasure and laughter, making this show a “renovation party that celebrates Life, Love, and Union“.
The 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 28th, 29th and 30th of June were dedicated to spectacle and comedy, also marking the debut of young actors who, even in this troubled period, emerged victorious, giving everything for a good performance.
The cast includes: Alex Oliveira, Ana Chagas, André Carrajola, André Dinis, Bruna Lemos, Carolina Moreira, Catarina Mesquita, Daniela Duarte, Filipe Cubal, Francisca Ré, Gelson Neto, Inês Pedro, Joana Correia, Joana Ferreira, Mafalda Oliveira, Maria Anciões , Maria Claro, Marta Maia, Miriam Gomes, Sara Alves, Sara Cardoso, Sofia Machado, Tiago Santos, Vasco Almeida, Teresa Gomes, Adérito Lopes and Paula Sousa.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream – Synopsis
Theseus, Duke of Athens, is going to marry Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons, and promotes a theater competition to liven up the wedding. In the woods, where discord grows between Oberon, the king of the goblins, and Titania, the queen of the fairies, the inhabitants of the magical world cross paths, four young people on the run, misaligned with love, and a troupe of actors, more willing than talent, trying to rehearse a play. As the dispute grows, the magical royal couple intrude into mortals’ lives causing love triangles, misunderstandings and transformations with hilarious but dark consequences…
