American musician Iggy Pop will perform in August at the Vilar de Mouros festival in Caminha, was announced today.
Presented as “one of the most elastic, inventive and sweeping musicians in the history of punk, rock and contemporary pop,” Iggy Pop, 72, will return to Portugal for a concert on August 29, the third and final day of the minhoto festival.
Iggy Pop released last year the album ‘Free’, made with songs composed by trumpeter Leron Thomas and guitarist Sarah Lipstate, understood as a hangover to the intensity of the previous album, ‘Post Pop Depression’ (2016), and consequent tour, which took him to Portuguese stages at the time.
According to the organization, Iggy Pop’s concert in Vilar de Mouros will be “a trip from the time of The Stooges”, passing through the “iconic collaboration with David Bowie”, which resulted in two albums, not forgetting ‘Post Pop Depression’, produced by Josh Homme.
Iggy Pop is the first confirmation of the Vilar de Mouros festival.
In 2019, the festival had over 46,000 spectators.
