Portuguese jewellery and Portojóia have walked side by side in recent decades, jointly embracing the sector’s growth, at one of Exponor’s longest-running fairs. To mark the 34th edition of Portojóia, which takes place from September 25th to 28th, the exhibition’s motto is (IM)PACTO.
The theme evokes the importance of this activity in the context of the national economy and also the pact between traditional arts of working with the most contemporary materials and shapes of national jewellery, resulting in fusion pieces that reflect both aspects of the same art.
As the largest jewellery, goldsmithing, and watchmaking event, Portojóia brings together brands, designers, and retailers for four days to showcase the latest trends and innovations in the industry. “This event showcases the definitions of Portuguese jewelry and goldsmithing, valuing national production, promoting innovation, and opening doors for new business partnerships,” says Diogo Barbosa, CEO of Exponor.

The 2025 edition will highlight emerging trends in the industry, such as sustainable design and new materials and technologies applied to jewellery. It also aims to facilitate business opportunities for industry stakeholders, fostering innovation, networking, and increasing the international recognition of professionals and brands. Visitors from several countries are expected to attend.
“Recognising the excellence of Portuguese jewellery is essential to strengthening the sector’s presence in high-yield markets,” emphasises Diogo Barbosa.
There will also be a space for reflection to discuss the major issues facing this sector. Portojóia Talks will feature lectures and debates, where professionals will have the opportunity to learn from experts, share experiences, and explore new perspectives that drive creativity and development.
As has been the case for the past eight years, a new edition of the Best Of Award will also be held to elect the Breakthrough Student.
The competition is open to students and graduates of art, design, and jewellery programs. The winner will have the opportunity to participate free of charge in the 2026 edition and will also receive a cash prize of 500 euros. They will also receive a course in goldsmithing/jewellery, sponsored by CINDOR – Training Centre. The rules can be found here.
