The Indie Music Fest is in full swing for its 2025 edition, which will take place from 4 to 6 September 2025 in Baltar, and it is already starting to take shape with great news.
Hause Plants and Ocenpsie are the latest confirmations for the 2025 lineup, joining names like Garajau, Rui Taipa, Manga Limão, Sullen and DJ Tendency. The 2025 edition promises an eclectic line-up, with alternative music and the best-emerging talents of the national scene.
In addition, the festival organization announces the release of the Happenings. A series of events will take place in 2025 and that will go through several Portuguese cities, with band contests and various surprises. These events will showcase new talent, allowing them to compete and show their potential.
Happenings Indie Music Fest 2025
The Happenings will be held in the following cities between January and May 2025:
- Braga Café Concert RUM by Mavy – January 11th
- Porto Ferro Bar – February 8
- Lisbon Music Box – March 21st
- Leiria Texas Bar – April 5th
- Paredes Paredes Cultural Center – May 24th – Final of the Indie Talents competition
Each event will feature four bands in the Indie Talents competition, providing a unique platform for new artists to perform live in their home cities. The winning bands from each city will compete in the grand final at the Paredes Cultural Center, with a capacity for 2,000 people. The grand finale will feature a concert by a renowned band, as well as DJs to liven up the evening.
The jury of Indie Talents will be composed of names of reference in the music and cultural industry, such as Álvaro Costa, Luís Oliveira, Ricardo Sérgio, Hugo Ferreira (Omnichord Records), Altafonte and programmers of the spaces involved.
Registration open from 2 to 24 December
Bands interested in participating in Indie Talents can register between 2 and 24 December on the official website of the festival. Entries are open to all genres of music projects, as long as they fit into the alternative and innovative spirit of Indie Music Fest.
Let yourself be enchanted again by the magic of Indie Music Fest!
It all started in 2014 when João Nuno, Tomás and Gonçalo began rehearsing their first songs after class at the Calouste Gulbenkian Music Conservatory, where they studied together. They gradually improved their language and finally, in 2016 they managed to arrange the first concert, which took place in the foyer of the Theatro Circo.
Since then, they have given numerous concerts in rooms such as the café concert of the Casa da Música, GNRATION, Oub’la, as well as in several festivals, including Noite Branca and Braga Primavera Jazz.
In 2018, Francisco joined the group, assigning it the configuration we know.
Distance has been one of the watchwords in the career of Hause Plants.
In the last two years, the Lisbon band has lived in Lisbon, Madrid and New York, and made four long-term tours, two in Europe and two in the United States, the last of which with a stop at the South By Southwest festival in Texas, and rarely stopped at home. During more than 100 concerts, Guilherme Machado Correia, João
Simões, Dani Oliveira and Hugo Luzio (who joined the group in early 2024) made the show rooms, the friends they met along the way and the sofas that were offered to them around the world home. Now, based on these experiences, released “Passar Mal”, the first single of the band’s new EP.
If sometimes distance is fundamental to know new realities, overcome new challenges and understand who we are, being away from home also gives us a new look at the place we belong to, allowing us to have time to think about it with a new perspective.
A festival full of surprises in 2025
The 2025 edition of Indie Music Fest promises many new features, including:
- Parking is dedicated to caravans and glamping, with exclusive access to meet some of the bands of the festival
- Secret concerts in unexpected scenarios
- Tickets for the Indie Music Fest 2025 are already on sale 20€ general pass with camping. This price ends on 31 December.
- A unique setting in the middle of nature
The festival returns in a space that uniquely combines music and nature. This year, one of the stages will be located in a natural amphitheatre surrounded by trees, and even the parking lot will be integrated into the venue, ensuring greater convenience for festival goers.
