Inês Marques Lucas, an artist who recently released the single “Curto Circuito”, was announced as one of the composers competing in the 59th edition of the Song Festival.
The artist of the album “Horas Mortas” (2023) is among the 20 artists competing in the new edition of the RTP Song Festival, one of the oldest and most prestigious music events on Portuguese television, which has recently seen winners such as Iolanda, Mimicat, MARO, and Salvador Sobral.
Inês Marques Lucas enters the “class of 2025” through open submission, with a song that will be officially presented in January 2025 on a date to be announced.
About the latest single “Curto Circuito”:
“Curto Circuito” is an energizing portrait song of the feelings experienced at the beginning of romantic relationships, its sound matches this peak of intensity and becomes easily danceable right from the first listen, as the artist demonstrates in the music video accompanying this release.
This single, once again produced by “Choro“, marks a new phase in the artist’s career. After promoting and performing her album Horas Mortas (2023) live, she is now preparing to release the first original songs outside of this album. More singles from the artist will be coming soon.
The filming of the music video, directed by Pedro Luz and Lobos, took place at Cine-Teatro Turim, a new cultural space in Benfica, Lisbon.
About Inês Marques Lucas:
Inês Marques Lucas began learning piano at the age of 5, has been inseparable from the guitar since she was 10, and has also explored the transverse flute and the mandolin along the way. At 14, she composed her first songs in English but soon realized that it was the Portuguese language that best represented her in her compositions.
After taking the stage on The Voice Portugal, Inês Marques Lucas decided to launch a solo career. She released her first album “Horas Mortas” in September 2023, which garnered recognition from the very beginning. From this album came “Do Avesso” – the first single to be known, “Não Restou Nada,” and “Sofá,” songs that received immediate airplay and charted on various national radios.
“Horas Mortas” was produced by Choro at Great Dane Studios, in collaboration with the artist. It is a modern and current album that establishes Inês as a breath of fresh air in the current music scene. All the songs on the album are authored by the artist, except for “Não Restou Nada,” which emerged from a collaboration with Choro.
In addition to the album release, Inês Marques Lucas has made a mark on national stages. She headlined a historic crowd at the NOS Alive Coreto Stage, sang for an audience that echoed her songs – even before the album was released – at the Festins Festival, packed the Teatro Maria Matos and Casa da Música for her debut album presentation, and graced the main stage of CoolJazz.
Recently, she released a video for the song “Sofá,” in partnership with União Zoófila, along with a mini-documentary aimed at responsible adoption, both produced by a team that shares something in common: love for animals.
At the moment, she is composing and producing new original works for a forthcoming release.
