Xutos & Pontapés are one of the most iconic and influential bands in Portuguese rock music. Formed in 1978, Xutos marked and continues to mark generations with their authentic lyrics, melodies and energy on stage.

The band was born in Lisbon when a group of friends decided to combine their passions for music and form a band. Initially called “Delirium Tremens”, they soon adopted the name that would make them famous.

With landmark albums such as Circo de Feras and Duro, Xutos won over the public and became one of the biggest names in Portuguese rock. The lyrics of Xutos’ songs are marked by great authenticity, everyday life, love, friendship and social criticism are one of the reasons for their success. Xutos & Pontapés influenced several generations of Portuguese musicians and are considered one of the pillars of national rock.

This was followed by concerts by Bué Tolo with the eternal melodies of Brazil, José Pinhal Post-Mortem Experience, a tribute band to the legacy of José Pinhal, an undervalued master of dance music originally from Sendim, with his musical career marked by his past life in Santa Cruz do Bispo, Matosinhos.

To pay homage to the work of this legendary singer, an original musical project appears on the night of the show “O João Faz Anos” which celebrates the birthday of 3 friends called João. João Sarnadas (one of the birthday boys) proposes to find a band in honour of José Pinhal to debut that night.

Integrating members of Favela Discos, Bruno de Seda and Suave Geração, José Pinhal Post-Mortem Experience was born in 2016.

The stage closed with Gilsons, composed of José Gil, Francisco Gil and João Gil, respectively the son and grandchildren of Gilberto Gil, with a fresh and contemporary sound, with deep roots in Brazilian music.

The Gilsons trio represents a new generation of musicians who honour their family’s musical legacy, but also bring a unique and innovative perspective. His music is a harmonious mix of MPB, pop and contemporary elements, resulting in an engaging and energetic sound that won over the large audience who didn’t want to miss his performance at Sol.

With their debut EP Various Queixas, released in 2019, Gilsons quickly won over the public and specialized critics. The album was a success, presenting mature and promising work.
