Instagram Reels or Cenas, as it will be known in the Portuguese language, is Facebook’s response to the phenomenon TitkTok, which gives users the possibility to record short 15-second videos, but with several creative tools.
Despite being available for testing in Brazil, the tool could finally reach the United States and 50 more countries in the coming weeks, according to anonymous sources close to NBC News.
The news comes at a time when TikTok is under scrutiny by the United States authorities, allegedly for the risk of national security due to the manipulation of the application by the Chinese government.
Instagram Reels will allow you to make a video with 15-second clips with music and various effects, to then share on the platform’s stories. There will always be the possibility of going viral in the new “Top Scenes” section of explore on Instagram.
Reels will reach the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Mexico and 50 other countries. To access Reels, the application will introduce a new icon at the bottom of the screen on Instagram. The videos will be published in the main Instagram feed or in Explore for public accounts.
