Confraria da Cerveja joins the commemorative date with the presentation of a hymn performed by the Portuguese band The Lucky Duckies and with the creation of the #VivaCerveja movement that challenges all Portuguese, next Friday, August 7, to sharing de Toast to Beer in your favorite place, as a way of supporting the category and the Horeca channel, an initiative that also has the support of AHRESP.
The International Beer Day, scheduled this year for August 7, Friday, will be celebrated in Portugal in the tone of “Viva a Cerveja”, a theme created and performed by the band “The Lucky Duckies” that gives body to the first Portuguese-language anthem that pays homage to Beer, its consumers, confreres, Barley and hops producers, brewers and the entire value chain that today employs about 80,000 people.
The music is by the vocalist of “The Lucky Duckies” and Confrade da Cerveja, Marco António, and the lyrics are by Fernando Gomes dos Santos, sound artist of the band.
The theme “Viva a Cerveja” has the support and publicity of the Confraria da Cerveja for illustrating the best of Beer through music: its people, the diversity of flavors, the moments of sharing and social interaction. The video clip of the hymn “Viva a Cerveja” can be viewed here.
Encouraging a movement to support the beer sector and the Horeca channel, strongly impacted by the current pandemic, the Confraria da Cerveja and AHRESP – Association of Hotel, Restaurant and Similar Establishments of Portugal still challenge all Portuguese to share their toast to beer in social networks, on the 7th of August, with the hashtag #VivaCerveja and marking your favorite place to enjoy a beer, be it a cafe, terrace, restaurant or hotel.
International Beer Day is celebrated every year on the first Friday in August. This anniversary was invented in 2007, in Santa Cruz, California, and began to be a celebration only in the bar of its founders, expanding until it became a world event, marked in more than 50 countries.
The Confraria da Cerveja joins this commemorative date, not only because of the sense of worldwide union with producers from various nations and cultures, but also to celebrate moments of conviviality, gastronomy, remember who produces it and who serves it, as well as highlight the importance of beer for the national economy.
