IOC elects Portuguese Fifó as one of the stars of the Youth Games

The Portuguese futsal player Fifó is one of the highlights of today’s official website of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which considered the champion and best mark of the Youth Olympic Games as one of the “stars of the competition.”

“Who can forget the extraordinary feat of the sensational Portuguese striker Ana Sofia Gonçalves, better known as Fifó?”, The IOC asks in its official website, recalling the athlete’s performance in the Olympic tournament held in Buenos Aires.

The Olympic body recalled that the female U-19 women’s futsal player “scored 21 goals in the women’s event, including the four with which the team defeated Japan in the final”, 4-1 on Wednesday

The futsal selection achieved one of two gold medals won by Portugal in the competition, along with the triathlete Alexandre Montez, out of a total of five – obtained three more silver -, which is the best ever participation of the Portuguese representation.
