Cameroonian Irma’s debut in Portugal will be on March 6th at Musicbox.
Irma Pany (Cameroon) is a phenomenon on digital platforms. It all started when he was studying at a business school in Paris and decided to record himself for YouTube covering songs by the Jackson Five or Stevie Wonder.
One of his earliest fans and supporters is American musician and producer will.i.am. Interestingly, Irma refused all the offers she had from major record companies to release her first album, Letter to the Lord, which ended up being released on the My Major Company label (a label owned by several artists) in 2011.
The move to New York was the basis of the second album Faces released in 2014 where Irma was inspired by the streets and “faces” she saw and knew around the city. After more than 150 concerts in support of this new album, Irma moved to Lyon with all her luggage and instruments for a musical break that only ended in 2020 with the release of her third album The Dawn.
With a sense of not belonging in any country/city and refusing the role of victim, Irma decides to make peace with her country of birth (Cameroon) and publishes the EP Douala Paris recorded between this country and Paris.
His latest House of Cards was released on February 14, 2024.
