Irony and joy of ‘Karl Valentin Kabarett’ presented in Loulé

The irony of the texts by Karl Valentin and the joy on stage of the director Ricardo Neves-Neves mark the play ‘Karl Valentim Kabarett’, which will be presented in the municipality of Loulé on August 9, 10, 16 and 17.

Around the Loulé convent and the Largo de la Manuel Viegas Guerreiro Foundation, in Querença, are the places where the four representations of the play of the Electric Theater will take place, which the Algarvean director Ricardo Neves-Neves debuted in July 2017, in the Theater of Trindade, in Lisbon, part of the program of the 34th Almada Festival.

The show shows the ‘constant inferiority complex’ of Karl Valentim’s characters, but also ‘the joy of the actors on the stage’, as the director and artistic director of the Teatro do Elétrico, Ricardo Neves-Neves, said at the time of his debut.

“I want to work with the actors, the joy of being on the scene … the brilliance that we can see in their eyes, more than the joy of the texts,” he said.

Ricardo Neves-Neves emphasized that the figures of Karl Valentin always live ‘in a constant inferiority to the world’, and in situations that are not cheerful, despite the fact that if they laugh ‘.
