ISEG students are Vice-Champions of the European Entrepreneurship Contest

These students conceived business ideas and, over the course of an academic year, went through all the necessary steps for their creation, implementation and operation. Due to the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s competition, which should have taken place in person in Athens, was conducted virtually.

18 entrepreneurship projects from 18 European countries, created by around 90 young people from university education, presented their work last week in the European Competition of the Junior Achievement StartUp program. This year, more than 17,000 European students, from 500 higher education institutions, participated in this program. The Mized team, composed of 5 ISEG students, reached the 2nd place in this competition.

The students participated in this European final after being selected in each of their countries as national winners. Representing Portugal was the Mized team, made up of ISEG students Dora Morgado, Mariana Cintra, Rita Santos, João Bento, Francisca Pires, mentored by professor Ana Venâncio.

These students developed customized and personalized protections for combat sports, that is, a plastic chest protection made of PET, a biodegradable and recyclable plastic, that fit perfectly in the athletes’ bodies.

Additionally, they offer a customizable sports top with a specific behavior to fit the plastic protection. This team delivered a video pitch for investors of 2 minutes and a commercial video of 30 seconds. He also conducted an interview and also submitted a company report.

At the awards gala, which took place last June 26, the Mized team won a very honorable 2nd place, thus distinguishing their project, their school and country in an event as prestigious as this. In this contest, this was the best classification of young Portuguese university students.
