Ivan Domingues finished in 23rd place in the Feature Race of the Austrian Formula 3 Grand Prix.
Penalized for starting from a secondary position, the race was another opportunity for the Portuguese rookie to grow, with pace and overtaking, but, above all, taking the Dallara to the checkered flag and accumulating valuable experience on the track – this in a weekend marked by some technical problems in qualifying and, later, by a premature retirement in the Sprint Race (suspension at the start).
After the triumph in the Spanish Grand Prix, the Spielberg circuit in Austria brought challenges that served as a learning experience in the debut year of the Formula 3 World Championship. “I ended the weekend with a second race in which I was consistent and showed good pace, despite the difficulties I had with the car’s settings since Friday. Today’s recovery could have been much better, but the car went into safety mode on the 10th lap, when I risked a lap. I overtook to get into the top 20 and forced my way over a correction. I lost a few positions, then I started a new recovery and managed, at least, to accumulate the experience of 26 laps of racing on a very demanding circuit. Every lap is important to grow in all aspects, especially in this debut year in which I arrived in the championship with much less experience than most drivers. I desire to continue improving and focus my attention on the Silverstone race next weekend”, stressed Ivan Domingues, who was the second-best driver for Van Amersfoort Racing.
After 12 races in the Formula 3 World Championship, the Portuguese driver is in 16th place in the championship with 18 points.
Ivan Domingues will compete again next weekend at the historic Silverstone circuit, the venue for the British Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Ivan Domingues (Leiria, 5/5/2006) started karting, inspired by his father and brother, when he was just 8 years old. At the age of 9, he took part in the first Portuguese championship. He won the Brazilian Karting Cup and was National Vice-Champion in 2017, 2018 and 2019. At the age of 14, he moved to Italy to professionalise his training and make the leap to Formula 4. Last season, in 2024, already in FRECA (Formula Regional Europe by Alpine), he stood out as one of the best rookies (two podiums and best rookie in 3 races). In 2025, he made the jump to the FIA Formula 3 Championship, one of the main antechambers to Formula 1, to complete the full season with the prestigious Van Amersfoort Racing (VAR), thus becoming the first Portuguese in the category in 12 years.
