A day after his first victory, in the middle of his debut season in the Formula 3 World Championship, Ivan Domingues once again finished in the points in the second race (Feature Race) of the Spanish Grand Prix, this Sunday, securing 6th place.
In Barcelona, the rookie from Leiria added 8 more points in the championship and ended his best weekend of the season in an extremely positive way, accumulating a total of 18 points – jumping to 14th place in the championship.

After starting in seventh place on the grid, the VAR driver once again had a great start. The expectation of surprising the pack and jumping to the front of the race – he was fifth at one point – ended up being hampered by an incident in which he was covered. From then on, Ivan Domingues developed a consistent race. On lap 18, he attacked Martinius Stenshorne (Hitech) with an overtaking move at the end of the straight that guaranteed him sixth place overall.

“We had another great start, but I ended up stuck, and it was a shame I couldn’t get involved in the fight for the front places again. But that’s what Formula 3 is all about, in a mess, so you can either jump into the lead or be reduced to a race of struggle. That’s what I tried to do. Finishing in the points, in sixth place, is once again spectacular. The weekend was incredible. And above all, it’s a sign that hard work pays off and we can continue to improve in this debut season in Formula 3. We’ll continue our work so we can make the most of the next race, in a month, in Spielberg”, said Ivan Domingues. “I want to thank everyone for the support and messages I’ve received. It’s a privilege to be able to live this opportunity to represent my country. Let’s go for more. Now the important thing is to go back to Leiria, kiss my mother and hug all my friends”.

Ivan Domingues, a young man from Leiria, won the Sprint Race of the Spanish Grand Prix on Saturday and became the first Portuguese to win an FIA Formula 3 race, after António Félix da Costa. The Portuguese team played at the Catalunya circuit. As a rookie in FRECA (Formula Regional Europe by Alpine), Ivan Domingues had already tasted the podium, but in Barcelona, he achieved the most important victory of his career, and one of the most relevant moments in Portuguese motorsports in recent years.
The Formula 3 World Championship returns at the end of June, with the Austrian Grand Prix, which will mark the start of the second half of the championship.

About Ivan Domingues
Ivan Domingues (Leiria, 5/5/2006) started karting, inspired by his father and brother, when he was only 8 years old. At the age of 9, he participated in the first Portuguese championship. He won the Brazilian Karting Cup and was National Vice-Champion in 2017, 2018 and 2019. At the age of 14, he moved to Italy to professionalise his training and make the leap to Formula 4. Last season, in 2024, already in FRECA (Formula Regional Europe by Alpine), he stood out as one of the best rookies (two podiums and best rookie in 3 races). In 2025, he made the jump to the FIA Formula 3 Championship, one of the main antechambers to Formula 1, to complete the full season with the prestigious Van Amersfoort Racing (VAR), thus becoming the first Portuguese in the category in 12 years. His role models are Ayrton Senna and Max Verstappen. In addition to cars, he is passionate about sports and animals.
