Ivan Domingues finished in 20th place in the Feature Race of the Monaco Formula 3 Grand Prix.
The Portuguese rookie, who started in 17th place (his best result of the year) and spent most of the time fighting for the top 15, ended up having his race conditioned by an incident, among the many that marked the morning in the Principality – seven retirements and a safety car on the track three times.
Ivan Domingues made a good start, avoided the chaos of the first lap, with 30 cars driving side by side on the narrow streets of Monte Carlo and moved up to 16th – he was the best driver on the Van Amersfoort Racing team. With seven laps to go, he would lose several positions in the aforementioned incident (he was blocked on the track) and, later, would receive a penalty, given when he tried to start a new recovery.
“After a qualifying session that gave us good expectations, we were forced to retire on Saturday, and this Sunday we didn’t have the best luck either. The first part of the race was clean, attacking the Top 15, but then we dropped to P20. We gained experience in Monaco the hard way, but that’s part of it… Now we’re going to Barcelona next weekend to confirm our improved pace on the track, try to gain as much experience as possible and try to get a good result”, said Ivan Domingues.
The driver from Leiria will compete again in the Spanish Grand Prix, the fifth round of the Formula 3 World Championship, which will be held in Barcelona next weekend.

Ivan Domingues (Leiria, 5/5/2006) started karting, inspired by his father and brother, when he was only 8 years old. At the age of 9, he participated in the first Portuguese championship. He won the Brazilian Karting Cup and was National Vice-Champion in 2017, 2018 and 2019. At the age of 14, he moved to Italy to professionalise his training and make the leap to Formula 4. Last season, in 2024, already in FRECA (Formula Regional Europe by Alpine), he stood out as one of the best rookies (two podiums and best rookie in 3 races). In 2025, he made the jump to the FIA Formula 3 Championship, one of the main antechambers to Formula 1, to complete the full season with the prestigious Van Amersfoort Racing (VAR), thus becoming the first Portuguese in the category in 12 years.
