Ivo Oliveira was eighth in the World Cup scratch test
The Portuguese rider finished today in the eighth position in the scratch competition of the World Cup, which takes place in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, France.
Ivo Oliveira was very active in the first half of the 60 laps but was left out of the run that ended up dictating the top three: Austrian Stefan Matzner, Australian Leigh Howard and Frenchman Adrien Garel.
In the Olympic competition of omnium, João Matias added 50 points and was 14th, after being eighth in the elimination event, 13 in scratch and 18 in the race time.
The test was won by Spaniard Albert Torres, who had 174 points, followed by Oliver Wood with 142 points and Frenchman Benjamin Thomas with 139 points.
The first stage of the World Cup 2018/2019 ends on Sunday when Portugal will be represented by the pair Ivo Oliveira and João Matias in the discipline of madison in an important event to qualify for the Tokyo2020 Olympic Games.
