It’s already open! The new space – and new concept – of the Gulden Draak brewery at Shopping Vasco da Gama, in Parque das Nações, is now open.

The space – distinctive, intimate and cosy – takes advantage of the view of the Tagus and Rossio dos Olivais and is truly tailor-made for a contemporary, comfortable kitchen – with some classics from the original house, in Picoas, and new creations, such as burgers and exclusive new products, and there’s also room for more unexpected options, such as alcoholic milkshakes… thinking about that glass at the end of a day’s work.

As for beers, the new Gulden Draak Vasco doesn’t leave its credits in other people’s hands… and, therefore, guarantees 12 taps, with the best selection.

When it comes to food, there are also no concessions and the menu reveals the standard that Gulden Draak has accustomed its customers to. In addition to the house dishes (such as the sirloin steak with special sauce, grilled tuna with asparagus and Moroccan couscous or the pork schnitzel with potato salad or even the tuna steak with guacamole… there is a range of special burgers (with taleggio cheese, mozzarella, grana padano, mushroom duxelles, lemon mayonnaise and arugula… or the Piraat, with creamy cheddar, chimichurri mayonnaise, grilled chorizo, pico de gallo and jalapeño.

The space is beautiful, very functional and is in keeping with the architectural quality of this new area of the Shopping Mall. Just as charming as its older sister, the recently opened Gulden Draak Vasco features in its decor the same reference that is a striking feature of both Lisbon breweries: the Gulden Draak brand glass, inspired by the dragon’s egg, which has been transformed into a set of beautiful lamps, in a special space like their beers, with the magical touch of a golden dragon.

The owners are Verônica Fernandes and Neko Pedrosa, the same ones who in 2023 opened Gulden Draak Lisboa in Picoas, which has the largest selection of draft beers in Portugal, with 50 references! They also own the Delirium Café brewery in Chiado, another giant, which has 35 beers on tap.

THE LEGEND OF THE GHENT DRAGON:

The legend of the dragon (draak in Flemish) is centuries old. The odyssey of this mythical beast begins in northern Scandinavia on the bow of a Viking ship and, after a long and winding journey, ends at the top of the Belfry of Ghent.

The dragon is a symbol of strength that inspires the brand’s robust beers, which are a reward for everyday heroes.

The brand has a wide range of beers, some with up to 12% alcohol content and with very varied notes and flavours, in a range of choices that goes from the star beer – the Gulden Draak classic – to the Fourchette, a very special beer that come to a mix of a tripel with wit and which has several chefs from Michelin-starred restaurants in its fan club.

THE OWNERS

Verônica Fernandes and Neko Pedrosa, a couple of cultural producers who in 2016 exchanged Rio de Janeiro for Lisbon, to bring to the Portuguese capital the branch of the iconic Belgian beer bar Delirium Café, opened in 2017 in Chiado, which quickly became a a reference in the Portuguese beer scene, with 35 beers on tap, good food and a relaxed atmosphere.

Six years later, in 2023, they decided to present the Lisbon scene with yet another concept linked to beer, this time from the renowned Belgian brand Gulden Draak, which means golden dragon in Dutch. It was supposed to have happened much earlier, as the brand’s invitation to represent them came at the beginning of 2020, but soon after the pandemic came the plans had to be postponed.

Thus, three years later, Gulden Draak Lisboa – Casa da Cerveja was born, right in front of the Picoas metro station. There are 50 beer taps – the largest selection of draft beers in Portugal, with several beers from the brand and curation of other Belgian, German, Scottish, Spanish and Portuguese beers, made by partner Neko Pedrosa.

And now in 2025, the couple embarks on a new challenge and opens the charming Gulden Draak Vasco. The new development is located on the River Deck of the Vasco da Gama Shopping Center.
