Five years later, the biggest sporting event in the world is back, with the threat of the covid-19 pandemic still present. Portugal has more than 90 athletes at the Games.
Portugal, with a participation of 92 athletes in 17 disciplines, aspires for the medals in games marked by the absence of public in the stands.
Starting at Tokyo Olympic Stadium, the opening ceremony launches the XXXII Olympiad of the Modern Era, in which 339 champions will be crowned in 33 different disciplines. Around 20 of the 92 Portuguese athletes who will be in action in the Japanese capital participate in the parade.
