The seven finalists for Portugal’s Car of the Year are now known

The jury of the “Seguro Direto Car of the Year/Volante de Cristal Trophy 2025” has already chosen the seven finalists who will go through to the next round of the Car of the Year in Portugal election, the oldest and most prestigious award in the automobile industry in our country.
Finalists for the Seguro Directo Car of the Year/Volante de Cristal Trophy 2025:
- BYD Sealion 7
- Citroën C3
- Cupra Terramar
- Dacia Duster
- KIA EV3
- Peugeot 3008
- Renault 5
In total there were 72 entries, with the cars divided into eight classes, with different models and versions, of which 43 were candidates for the title of winner of the “Seguro Direto Car of the Year/Volante de Cristal Trophy 2025”.
After the dynamic tests, the 18 judges chose the seven finalists.
The successor to the BYD Seal will be announced on March 11, along with the winners of each of the eight classes: City, Design, Sports/Leisure, Electric, Family, Plug-in Hybrid, Compact SUV (includes crossovers) and Large SUV.
On the occasion, the Executive Committee of “Seguro Directo Car of the Year/Volante de Cristal Trophy 2025” will also award the Career Award and the Technology and Innovation Award.

This year’s edition of Car of the Year once again features Seguro Direto, a brand of the Ageas Portugal Group, as the main sponsor. The Car of the Year 2025 and the winners of the different classes will be announced on March 11th at a very special gala that will be attended by the main protagonists of the industry in our country.
