After a month of analysis of the images submitted for the Xiaomi Imagery Awards 2022 – the world’s most important photo contest for Xiaomi users who love photography – 22 prizes were awarded to finalists from 12 countries and regions globally.
After registration closed on September 30, this year’s edition was a real success with 262,106 works submitted by participants from 191 countries. This year, seven categories were covered: Nature, Portrait, Architecture, Lifestyle, Night, Sports, and Macro, offering various scenarios for Xiaomi fans to showcase their talents. Participation in the contest was free, with a creation fund of 10,000 euros.
This year marks the fourth anniversary of this global photo contest. Through each contest over the past four years, Xiaomi has aimed to spark consumers’ interest in capturing and sharing their moments using state-of-the-art, easy-to-use imaging technologies so they can enjoy the joys of creation, wherever they are. are and at any time. Under the theme “Your vision, your story”, this year’s awards received a large volume of entries whose creativity and real-life stories transmitted through the lens shone through each work.
To further contribute to the mobile photography industry with its international creative vision, the Xiaomi Imagery Awards 2022 has returned with an incredibly prestigious jury of four photography experts and internationally renowned academics from various disciplines. This includes Ashley Pearce, director of Downton Abbey, Ami Vitale, photographer for National Geographic, Matthew Lloyd, photographer for Bloomberg, The Guardian, The Sunday Times, and other major media outlets, and Tang Hui, President of the China Photographers Association.
Ashley Pearce, director of Downton Abbey, said: “This year I found the proposals exceptionally good, particularly the variety and quality of the themes. Many of the works were surprising and arrived in a fresh and exciting way. From deeply rich and saturated images to more in black and white, from literal to macro photography, it was a joy to see such talent on display“.
In addition to expert judge panels, Xiaomi cooperated with notable professional partners such as Moment, JOBY, BeautyPlus, and Outdoor Master to support the event and share the participants’ creativity with the world.
The Xiaomi Imagery Awards announce that Ko Phyone, from Myanmar with the work “Family of Fishermen” won “Photograph of the Year“, and the top three winners in each category were awarded the Outstanding Prize.
The photographs submitted to the competition show the participants’ personal perspectives on life, telling unique stories through the lens of Xiaomi smartphones.
