Jacinto Lucas Pires winner of the John dos Passos Award

Writer Jacinto Lucas Pires is this year’s winner of the John dos Passos Award, with the novel “Oração a que Miss Joelhos”  from 2020, awarded by the Regional Secretariat for Tourism and Culture of Madeira.

The prize for works of fiction in Portuguese, published in national territory, in the previous biennium, with the value of 7,500 euros, to which 45 works competed, in the modalities of prose fiction, novel or anthology of short stories.

The 47-year-old author has already won several awards, such as the Europa Prize — David Mourão-Ferreira, from the University of Bari and the Instituto Camões, in 2008, and the Grand Prix of Literature DST, in 2013, for the novel “O Verdadeiro Ator“.
