It’s not the first time Jacob Collier has come to Portugal, and every time has something in common: the concert is excellent, and Jacob is welcomed by a legion of fans who greet him warmly. Last night at the Meo Arena’s Sala Tejo, he dazzled once again with his energy and talent.
Singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and five-time Grammy winner, he returned to Lisbon, where he started this tour, DJESSE Vol. 4 UK & Europe Tour 2024, produced by Live Nation, which will stop in 20 other European cities and end in the UK with a special concert at the O2 Arena in London.
One of the most talented artists of his generation, Jacob Collier has garnered applause from the public, critics, and peers. At just 29 years old, he has already won five Grammys and received 11 more nominations. He has collaborated with some of the world’s best artists, such as Coldplay, SZA, Stormzy, and Kehlani, and has featured John Mayer, Shawn Mendes, T-Pain, and Tori Kelly, among others, in his songs.
Jacob Collier drew the audience’s attention with his covers on YouTube, but it was the attention he received from Quincy Jones that changed his career, and under his guidance, he released his first album in 2016, In My Room, which was recorded, produced, and performed entirely by Jacob.
He opened the concert with “100,000 Voices” after an introduction, followed by “WELLLL” and “She Put Sunshine,” on a musical journey that highlighted the album that names the tour, Djesse, Vol. 4, but also included songs from Djesse, Vol. 3 and Jacobean Chill, always accompanied by the fans who attended the Meo Arena. It concluded with “Over You,” “Box of Stars,” and “Somebody to Love,” this fantastic return to Portugal, which was produced by Ritmos e Blues.
