Jazz and electronic festival animate the village of Manique do Intendente

Jazz and electronica will liven up Saturday the town of Manique do Intendente, in the municipality of Azambuja (district of Lisbon), in a festival that aims to be an alternative to traditional summer parties with more popular music.

This is the MANIFESTIVAL, an event that has been held for three consecutive years in this town of the municipality of Azambuja, located about an hour away from the city of Lisbon and which, according to the organizers, intends to be “a manifesto for life inside and in rural areas “, presenting to this population” less common sonorities “.

“We live in a beautiful village, with enormous potential, but that presents enormous cultural needs. This festival is also a manifesto to the right that these people have to have access to a quality cultural and musical offer,” said Jorge Ferreira, a of the organizers of MANIFESTIVAL.

In one of the most emblematic spaces of Manique’s town of the Intendant, a stage set up in the Emperors Square will perform artists related to jazz, ethnic and also electronic music, contrasting with those heard in neighboring parishes and towns.

“This festival intends essentially to attract visitors to Manique and to make known the beauty of this village, assuming itself as an alternative to the festivities of the area. From year to year we have been growing and this leaves us very happy,” he said.

Between 13:00 on Saturday and 02:00 on Sunday the artists Praso, Ritchaz Cabral, The Malvados, Sandy Blues Band, MIGA-Make Iberia Great Again, Zorba, Richard Beats and DJ In New News, with free admission.

In addition to the music, there will also be space for the tasting of local products and horse-drawn carriage rides to “make known the town of Manique do Intendente”.

The event has the logistical support of the Azambuja City Council and the parish union of Manique do Intendente, Vila Nova de S. Pedro and Maçussa.
