Singer and songwriter Joana Almeirante, who has enchanted the Portuguese with her compositions, was at Maria Matos for her first live concert in Lisbon and was joined by two big names, Bárbara Tinoco and Agir.
The song ‘Bem Me Quer‘, generic of the TVI soap opera, which marked the launch of Joana Almeirante as a solo artist, the singer-songwriter had her live debut in Lisbon, with the concert in Porto at Casa da Musica, scheduled for 31 of March.
Joana Almeirante, started the concert with ‘Dueto‘, followed by ‘Confetti‘ ‘Porta revolving‘ and ‘Bem me quer‘, a concert where she performed on stage alone with her viola, guitar and beautiful voice, to present her compositions, Agir even mentioned that he has some admiration and envy for those who have the courage to go on stage alone and spend an hour playing and that he adds that he would hardly have that courage.
Barbara Tinoco, Joana’s first guest to take the stage at Maria Matos, with whom she sang ‘A tua namorada‘ song composed by Barbara for Joana and they sang the song ‘Sei lá‘, one of Barbara Tinoco’s greatest hits.
It was followed by ‘Tempo‘ composed during the pandemic and explains “the world is really upside down, these recent times have been a little difficult, a pandemic, now a war begins, and we really put everything into perspective, it’s not, and it’s difficult not listening to the bad news that comes, and I wrote this song during the pandemic when I felt a little more lost, it talks about exactly that, how the world is turned upside down, how our dreams are stolen, without us realizing it …”
The song that followed, composed by Miguel Araujo for Joana, emphasizes that “he adapts his writing for me, because in his songs he uses those difficult words, that a person has to go to the dictionary, you know, sometimes when these are new songs, I’m always asking – what is this word, I don’t know what it means – but he already knows in my songs that he can’t say those words…” and adds “he wrote me this song, I don’t I hadn’t asked him for anything, I didn’t even tell him what I wanted to say in the song, he already knows me well, but for those who don’t know I’m very much that person who acts without thinking, that is, that thought comes a little late, and then many times I screw up, and in my day to day I apologize to people…” and trains “I only think after I screw up, this song talks about it, about so bad it’s not tomorrow, and tomorrow we correct our mistakes, tomorrow we catch the pieces and we put them all back together…” a song that Joana likes a lot, ‘Not so soon it’s morning‘.
The other guest followed, “he’s a composer, he’s a musician, he’s an excellent singer, he’s everything in one person” and Joana calls Agir to the stage, who says “I don’t know if I’m all that, it’s her words“, which provoked a general laugh, he added “Joana didn’t ask me for a song, so what I did, I pushed her, started a conversation with her, and asked, can we work together, can I make you a song? accepted” and ‘Horas longa‘ appeared, a theme composed by Agir for Joana Almeirante and then they sang ‘Mesa par Dois‘, one of Agir’s many hits.
With the concert ending, Joana says “my father is probably the person responsible for being here today, for making music, he was the one who gave me the biggest records, the best artists, the one who took me when I was 12 years old, to go see the havy-metal band Iron Maiden at Meo Arena, where I realized that was the life of Rock n’Roll…“, and adds “my biggest influences are the Rolling Stones, Deep Purple and Camel… ”
Joana then sings “If it makes you happy” by Sheryl Crow, which she says is a great influence on her songs, and said goodbye in the company of Agir, Barbara and the audience, with the song ‘Bem me quer‘ ending a concert, with excellent music, at Maria Matos.
