At the end of last year, Joana Oliveira conquered the digital tops with her debut single, “Juro” — which entered the viral top spot on Spotify, remained in the Top200 on Shazam for months and has airplay on Rádio Comercial —, and is now preparing once again to surprise everyone and everything with the emotional song “Sem Ti Não Dá”.
The song was written by Diogo Piçarra and LEFT., a musician who was also in charge of producing the new single.
“It’s a huge responsibility to sing an original by Diogo Piçarra and interpret a story I haven’t experienced yet”, says Joana. “It’s beautiful to feel other people’s stories and embody a different character. Furthermore, this is an original song by someone I so admire and appreciate, and I hope to treat this topic with due respect.”
It is by no means the first time that Joana Oliveira and Diogo Piçarra worked together. When the young singer participated in “The Voice Portugal”, in 2019, Diogo Piçarra was the first mentor to turn the chair and was chosen to guide the singer in the program. In that first competition, Joana Oliveira turned the four chairs of the mentors with her version of “Always Remember Us This Way” by Lady Gaga. In December 2022, the mentor and student met on stage at Almada Feliz and showed the artistic complicity that unites them.
After going through “The Voice Portugal”, Joana signed with Universal Music Portugal, as editor, Management, and Agenciamento, having debuted with “Juro”, a theme produced by the duo No Maka, which adds up to thousands of streams so far. The song can also be heard on the SIC telenovela “Sangue Oculto”, a remarkable feat for a career that is now taking its first steps.
Joana Oliveira brings to the national scene a pop and r&b sensibility that makes her voice and interpretation truly unique. “Sem Ti Não Dá” is the reflection of this talent, which will still give much to talk about.
