João Almeida, who is five seconds from Pogacar (UAE Emirates) in the overall classification, finished the time trial of the second stage, 13.3 kilometers, 30 seconds from the winner, the Italian Filippo Ganna (INEOS), who completed the course in 13.56 minutes.
Countryman Ruben Guerreiro (EF Education-Nippo) finished the time trial in 60th place, 1.17 minutes from the winner, and fell to 67th overall, 9.24 minutes from Pogacar.
On his return to the road, after the memorable Tour of Italy in 2020, João Almeida reveals that he is in good shape and, having been highlighted in the inaugural 176 kilometers, winning the two intermediate sprints, he is only overcome at this moment by the 2020 Tour winner.
On Tuesday, the third stage of the race will take place, at a distance of 166 kilometers, between Strata Manufactoring and Jebel Hafeet.
