João Almeida third in the Emirates

Portuguese cyclist from Deceuninck-QuickStep, João Almeida made it to the podium for the first time in the World Tour event, with third place in the Tour of the United Arab Emirates.

João Almeida, 22 years old, finished the Tour of the United Arab Emirates with 1.02 minutes more than the winner of Slovak Tadej Pogacar from UAE-Emirates and with 35 more seconds than Adam Yates, from Ineos who was the champion of the last Tour of France.

The last stage was played between Deira Island and Abu Dhabi with 165 kilometres, which Australian Caleb Ewan of Lotto Soudal won with a time of 3: 18.29 hours followed by Irish Sam Bennett of Deceuninck-QuickStep and German Phil Bauhaus of Bahrain-Victorious.
