João Gil pays tribute to the 25th of April

João Gil released “O Dia Mais Bonito” last Friday, the first single that anticipates the new album of originals to be released on May 10th, Só Se Salva o Amor.

This song pays homage to the freedom brought by the Carnation Revolution.

“This is the day of all days of Democracy, the day that begins the entire process of discovery of all days.

Freedom and Democracy always go hand in hand in the search for better living conditions and with our eyes set on ending poverty. Portugal was a country in black and white and very backwards in the pride of being alone, tied hand and foot in the Dictatorship. The 25th of April 1974 marks in the History of Portugal the beginning of the great journey of discovery into the interior of each Portuguese person and meant the end of a senseless War. Within us beats a heart of tolerance and respect for the differences and uniqueness of each person. All together we make history, thanks to the most beautiful day ever.”
