Portuguese tennis player beat the Australian in three sets. After losing the first, he won the next two and goes to the eighth Estoril Open.
After winning the last edition of the Estoril Open, João Sousa started his individual participation this Tuesday in this year’s edition.
In front of the Australian Alexei Popyrin, the Portuguese player, 51 of the world rankings, began to lose, reversing the result and finishing the first set by 6-4.
But then, the world number 113 pulled ‘the gallons’ and imposed against the Portuguese, closing the second set 6-2 and forcing the Portuguese to respond strongly in the final match.
With the possibility of moving to the eighth, João Sousa imposed himself again, making it 6-2 and closing a match that lasted for more than hours.
Recall that João Sousa will now face Goffin, the world number 25, in a match that will take place tomorrow at 12 o’clock.
