João Sousa dropped 23 places in the world ranking
The Portuguese with the most victories of singles in the Davis Cup, João Sousa, by winning his 26th triumph in Romania, dropped this 23 places in the ATP hierarchy, led by Serbian Novak Djokovic, ahead of Russian Daniil Medvedev and Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Just like João Sousa, 32 years old, Frederico Silva also suffered a fall (13 places) in the ranking and is now ranked 197th.
Gastão Elias, on the other hand, descended only two steps and is in 217th place, while João Domingues rose three positions to occupy 239th place.
Nuno Borges, who on Sunday made his debut in the Davis Cup playing doubles alongside João Sousa, descended to 276th, being the last Portuguese to be in the Top 300 worldwide.
