João Sousa eliminated in 1st round of US Open

Portuguese tennis player fell in three sets at the feet of Jordan Thompson.

Joao Sousa’s adventure at the last Grand Slam of the year ended early. The Vimaranense tennis player was eliminated on Tuesday at Flushing Meadows by Australian Jordan Thompson.

The best Portuguese of all time, currently No. 44 in the world rankings, was beaten with the 6-3, 6-2 and 6-4 partials in a duel that lasted just over two hours.

In a match where Joao Sousa ended up with more aces than his opponent (6-3), Thompson’s win avalanche (29 vs 17) and the least direct errors (29 vs 34) than the Portuguese contributed, and how, for the qualification of the Oceania tennis player.
