The 2020 edition takes place between April 25th and May 3rd at the Estoril Tennis Club.
João Sousa is the first tennis player confirmed at the sixth edition of the Millennium Estoril Open, which takes place between April 25 and May 3, 2020 at the Estoril Tennis Club.
The Vimaranense won the race in 2018 and confessed that he keeps alive the memories of this triumph, underlining that he will return motivated to try to “triumph again” at Estoril.
“I go with everything! In every tournament I play, I go to win, but no doubt this is very special, there is a different feeling and a special desire to win. It’s a tournament that brings me a lot of good memories, I really feel at home, because during the year I never have a chance to feel the love of the audience to the full. Even after winning, it has become even more special, it brings a lot of emotions to my head. The year I won, 2018, it was special, it was a very intense week… the moment to win, to take the field to the final, to hear the hymn sing… The before and after the final were marked in memory “, recalled João Sousa, speaking to the press office of the tournament.
The current world number 58 player also stressed the difficulties he will face to win this title again given the quality of the opponents that will be present in the tournament.
“I don’t think it has gotten any easier, it is always hard to win a tournament, whether at home or away. The motivation and wanting are there to win again. Whenever I try to do my best and I try my best to be able to win, “he added.
João Sousa, remember, came to victory in the Portuguese event in 2018, beating American Frances Tiafoe in the final.
