João Sousa loses against Cameron Norrie in Auckland

The Portuguese João Sousa, 44th in the world tennis ranking, was eliminated today in the second round of the Auckland tournament, losing to British rider Cameron Norrie, 93rd in the hierarchy, 7-6 (7-5) and 6-4.

Norrie qualified for the quarterfinals by winning the first clash against the Portuguese number one finalist of the New Zealand tournament in 2017 in an hour and 35 minutes.

The Briton will play in the semi-finals against United States midfielder Taylor Fritz, 50th in the standings, who beat compatriot John Isner, the first seed in the series and 10th in the circuit, in the eighth. 7-6 (7-3) and 7-6 (7-5).
