Venezuelan singer-songwriter JOAQUINA has just released her debut album, al romper la burbuja, a work that invites listeners to delve into her life and her world of self-discovery.
Written between the ages of 18 and 20, this album represents a crucial moment in Joaquina’s artistic and emotional evolution, presenting a mature, authentic and reflective proposal.
Produced by Joaquina in collaboration with multiple GRAMMY®-winning producer Julio Reyes Copello and featuring the work of Latin GRAMMY®-nominated mixing and mastering engineer Robin Reumers, al romper la burbuja presents a distinctive fusion of folk-poetic pop and classic rock. The 14-song album reflects a range of emotions, from healing and heartbreak to self-empowerment and existential introspection.
After a series of successful singles released throughout the year, including “pessimista”, “todo y nada”, “aeropuerto” and “desahogo”, Joaquina continues to show the evolution of her voice. “Breaking the Bubble” delves into the universal experiences of growing up, facing personal changes, and dealing with the complexities of emotional growth. The album’s main track, “Capricho,” explores healing after the bitterness of emotional betrayal, while “Carta (a Mí)” captures the process of personal reinvention, balancing the protection of the inner child with a dose of naivety and realism. In turn, “no llames lo mío nuestro” addresses the vulnerability of heartbreak, and the viral success of “el Alquimista” offers a profound reflection on spirituality and the world we live in.
For Joaquina, the album title al ruptura la burbuja symbolizes the fragile shield we create around ourselves to protect ourselves from the harsh realities of the world. The album explores how we react when this protective bubble is broken and how these moments shape us into the people we are destined to be. This concept encapsulates the essence of Joaquina’s art: a dynamic blend of intimate storytelling and sonic exploration, offering an authentic reflection of her growing-up years.
About the release of her first album, Joaquina says: “’Al Romper La Burbuja’ is a project that reflects a very transitory phase of my life, a moment in which I was not only discovering the world around me but also myself. ‘Bubbles Breaking’ represents what it feels like to grow, learn, and let go of things. Create my bubble, filled with everything that gives me peace and happiness, and that constantly reminds me of my purpose. I hope this album allows my fans to relate to their journeys and find solace in the safe space I’ve created through this music.”
