Jogo de Damas at CCB
On a windy night, the CCB received, in its outdoor space, the Porto group, Jogo de Damas that sang in the chapel, or in the company of 3 Jazz musicians, interpreted classic songs, bossa nova, jazz and pop.
A group of excellent voices formed in Porto is composed of 4 voices with origins in different musical styles, composed by Bárbara Franke, Fátima Serro, Gabriela Braga and Sameiro Sequeira.
They introduced us to themes from their most recent album “Too Close” but also from their first album. In the talented company of Paulo Gomes at the piano, Miguel Ângelo on double bass and Acácio Salero on drums partnership that comes from 2009.
Themes like “I love coffee and tea”, “Mr Sandman”, “Cadê o Meu Chorinho?” that Vasco Negreiros wrote for Jogo de Damas, cheered the audience on a windy and cold August night when the 4 fantastic voices showed all the charm at the CCB.
In the company of Paulo Gomes, Miguel Ângelo and Acácio Salero, “Chili com Carne” followed, “The best things happen while you dance” from the first album “Jogo de Damas” among others and “All or Nothing at All”.
Coming to an end, we highlight, “Bem Bom”, by João Gilberto and “Sunny” was an invitation to dance, which in times of pandemic, has to be seated, followed by “Too Close for Comfort”, from the last album “Too Close” that is very close theme to us all, at this time, when the social distance is so important.
“Dare The Moon”, “Zuvi Zeva Novi” by Mler Ife Dada with arrangement by Bárbara Franke and Fátima Serro and “My Funny Valentine” made famous by Frank Sinatra, would have ended the show at CCB, but the audience did not leave, so Jogo de Damas returned to stage and ended the concert with Stevie Wonder‘s “Superstition”, on a night full of good music performed by four fantastic voices.
