The prestigious whiskey brand Johnnie Walker, over 200 years old, decided to reduce its carbon footprint. In the next year of 2021, the glass packaging will no longer be used and will become paper.
Diageo, the company that owns the brand, explains that the bottles will be made of wood pulp and that they will be 100% recyclable.
Through the creation of the new company “Pulpex”, which creates sustainable packaging, they will also produce packaging for PepsiCo and Unilever.
Currently, Guinness beer packs (which also belong to Diageo) for sale in supermarkets are no longer made of plastic.
Today we announce we’ve created the world’s first ever 100% plastic free paper-based spirits bottle, made entirely from sustainability sourced wood. The bottle will launch with @johnniewalker_ whisky in early 2021 #paperbottle. Take a look: https://t.co/kyD2RjP1Cn pic.twitter.com/eaLIWjscQP
