Jonas presents Adam’s Apple at the Capitólio
September 14th
Jonas is preparing the release of his second new album, scheduled for release on September 13th, which will be available in physical format and on all digital platforms.
After São Jorge, released in 2021 under the auspices of Valentim de Carvalho, Maçã D’Adão is the fado singer’s second work under his name. He, who has shown himself to be a multifaceted artist, brings dialogue to music with dance and the history of Fado, namely with the “Bate Fado” project by Jonas & Lander, considered by the newspaper Expresso and Diário de Notícias, as the best show of the year, in 2021.
The presentation of Maçã D’Adão, in Lisbon, will take place on September 14th at Cineteatro Cavaleiro, in an unprecedented and surprising concert format, which already has several shows scheduled in Portugal and on the international circuit.
Still, in September, the fado singer heads to the north, where he will present Maçã D’Adão at the Teatro Diogo Bernardes, in Ponte de Lima, on the 27th. On the 29th of October, it is the turn of the Auditorium dos Recreios da Amadora to welcome -welcome to Jonas, followed by Águeda, Alcanena and Santarém on November 2nd (Águeda Arts Center), November 8th (Cine-Teatro São Pedro) and November 16th (Teatro Sá da Bandeira), respectively. Until the end of 2024, Jonas & Lander still have two tours scheduled in France with the show “Bate Fado”.
It is almost universally unknown that Fado was danced for almost half of its existence. In 19th century Lisbon, this dance with a strong social expression was called “Fado Batido”, a name that comes from the act of tap dancing, of tapping the foot on the floor to the sound of Fado.
In Maçã D’Adão, Jonas continues the saga of “São Jorge” and “Bate Fado”, drawing inspiration from the more mystical, esoteric and mysterious side of Fado. A project that, in times of conflict and intolerance, celebrates all the cultural richness present in the sounds of Fado. In a sound journey that navigates between Gypsy, Iberian, Moorish and Afro-Brazilian influences, among others, this is a Fado that reaches us in all its worldview, a Fado that immerses itself in its origins and rescues the extinct dance of Fado Batido.
Jonas’s album “Maçã D’Adão” is supported by Antena 1.
