Jorge Palma presents a unique and unrepeatable Promenade Concert at the Coliseu Porto Ageas
This Sunday, May 18, the country will once again go to the Coliseu Porto Ageas for elections. This time, he will perform in a format that has never been seen before in his career: a very special Promenade Concert.
The author of “Bairro do Amor” will have carte blanche to choose a selection of his songs, as well as some of the most special classical works of his life, which he will perform on the piano with the Artave Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of maestro Cesário Costa.
“Promenade Concerts – Carta Blanca a Jorge Palma” will take place at 11 am and invites audiences of all ages to experience classical music in an original way. Commentaries by musicologist Jorge Castro Ribeiro and multimedia design by Sara Botelho will reveal all the interesting facts about the songs. For example, at minute 3.01 of the song “Na Terra dos Sonhos”, Jorge Palma included an excerpt from the German composer Stockhausen.
This and other interesting facts will be revealed by Jorge Palma, one of the most renowned Portuguese musicians, who has brilliantly managed to merge classical influences with rock’n’roll and popular music.
Introduced in Portugal by the Coliseu in 2005, the Promenade Concerts attract young and old alike, one Sunday a month, to showcase the best stories and melodies of classical music. Celebrating 20 years in 2025, the Promenade will present a unique and unrepeatable show this Sunday.
Tickets for “Promenade Concerts – Carta Branca a Jorge Palma” cost between €6 and €14, with 20% discounts for students, Coliseu Friends and family (+ 3 members), over 65s and Porto card holders.
